Let's talk Bike

I'm really not sure how many if anyone reads this blog but if you do and you have an opinion at all I'd like to hear it.
I am in the market for a new bike. I really am a bit confused. I figured I'd ask the people that ride them everyday what type of bike I should. I am really talking about type not brand.

Road bike
From what I have read (and I have read lots about it) some if not most "roadies" are looking for more Aero bikes. Looking for the same features as TT bikes but in a more upright position.
The things about a road bike I like are mainly the brake/shifters. They give you the ability to change gears quickly and safely. Plus obviously braking, being able to brake quickly without having to jump out of Areo position to reach the brake levers.

Tri bike

Triathlons are the reason I am buying a bike. I have been told though that I should buy a road bike and put clip on bars because you do most of your training in road position and a road bike is easier for doing intervals etc cause of the accessibility of the shifters.
I am a true believer in the geometry of the Tri bike, it has saved me alot of heart ache on those windy days here in Windy Essex County.

So I guess the question I have...since I do not have the $$$ to buy both is what is best bang for the buck? Compromise Aero positioning for brake/shifters? Is tri the way to go? Tell me please tell me!

I remember having that conversation with myself many years ago.
Of course I finally got a TT bike ..why?? Well because 99% of the time I train for triathlons, and yes Essex county is ALWAYS windy, you'll love it when you can be comfortable in the aero position for 3hrs at a time..:-))
